Today in class we are examining the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Using Powerpoint, Magazine and NEwspapers and The Zapruder Film, students will analyse the events surrounding the day of the assassination> We will also highlight events immediately following the November 22, 1963 murder of JFK.

Detente and the End of the Cold War


Moving through the basic timeline of Cold War events, we are looking at the 1970's and 1980's. Detente and Nixon's visit to China and the SALT treaties of the 1970's are being discussed. The Soviets invasion of Afghanistan, Reagan's military buildup and the 1989 Fall of the Berlin Wall will also be covered.

The Berlin Wall


Today we are continuing through the Cold War by looking at its most visible symbol, the Berlin Wall. Students will understand where and why this massive enclosure was built. Students will also learn about the architecture and attempts of many to escape to West Berlin.
